Catholic Medal Programs for Girl Scouts
The Galveston-Houston Archdiocesan Committee on Girl Scouting presents the Catholic awards below to girls that have sufficiently completed the medal workbook. Each year, the committee hosts a Spiritual Awareness Day during the fall where girls can purchase required workbooks and begin or continue their work to complete the medal programs. Participants are encouraged to join other girls in the Archdiocese for a retreat usully held at Camp Casa Mare in February.
Once workbooks have been completed through individual or troop activities, girls present their work to members of the committee for review and approval. This usually occurs in March and is followed in April by an special award ceremony. The Archdiocesan Committee on Girl Scouting - Religious Recognition Ceremony is usually on a Saturday or Sunday in March or April and is normally officiated by a Bishop with assistance from the Girl Scout Chaplain.
