What is a catechist?

"Go make disciples, and teach them everything I have commanded you."

A catechist...

Please consider volunteering as a catechist to teach primary levels Pre-K through 6th grade or junior high levels 7 and 8. We also need high school and Confirmation catechists. This role requires you to bring our young people closer to Jesus and grow in their faith as Catholics. Through their service the catechist nurtures and mentors the faith and spiritual growth of the children they teach so that they may form a firm committment to follow Christ. 

Qualifications of a Catechist: A catechist must be at least eighteen years old, a practicing Catholic in good standing who attends weekly Mass regularly, has a love for children, desires to grow in faith and to share that journey with young people, is able to relate well with others, has a sense of humor and flexibility, and posesses a willingness to be of service to the church.
