WHAT IS RCIA?
RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is the process by which adults become members of the Roman Catholic Church - a process of preparation for:
It is a way of assimilating people into a Catholic way of life, by coming to an understanding of the Church, its doctrines, beliefs, and practices. It is not a hurried process, but a deliberate, personal process of growth and understanding that takes as long as it takes as it journeys through several distinct stages in which participants make a decision whether or not to continue. They leave at any time (though we hope they will choose to stay!). For more information about how to become part of this process, call the R.E. office.
The RCIA is the process by which the
Catholic Church welcomes new members from other faiths or those who
have not been baptized.
In order to assist the prospective new members
it is necessary to have a sponsor for each person. A sponsor will
journey with the person during the process of learning about the
Catholic Church. Any practicing Catholic 18 years or older can be a
sponsor. There are a number or prospective persons who need sponsors
immediately! Please agree to share your faith.
For more details about becoming a sponsor, please
call Barbara Mackie at the R.E. office.
Is God calling you to ministry?! The
Religious Education Office needs teachers for the coming year
2007-2008.
