About our Logo:
The mosaic images we have chosen for our logo and other graphics come from an ancient mosaic found on the floor of the "Church of the Primacy of Peter" in the Holy Land. The mosaic is one of the oldest Christian mosaics found in the Holy Land and probably dates to the fourth century, A.D.
The full mosaic depicts the loaves and fishes, symbolic of the feeding of the five thousand described in scripture.
St. John Fisher was a contemporary of St. Thomas More. Both were martyred by Henry, VIII in the sixteenth century. In the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church, the memorial of both men is celebrated on the same day, June 22.
Our name, "The Fishers," was chosen because of the calling of Jesus, to make us "fishers of men" and because of the campanionship of John Fisher with Thomas More, our parish patron.
