Fr. Bill's Weekly Message
for 10/11/98
Dear Parishioners:
Last weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity
to attend the Youth Eucharist Adoration Retreat with over a hundred of
our youth. It was a great success. Our youth and the adults who chaperoned
and helped were deeply touched by God's grace.
Whenever we see Christ in an intimate way, we
get stretched by God. He pulls and molds us more and more into His people.
I probably heard Confessions for more than ten hours [there were other
priests also].
Y.E.A.R. retreats used to be called YOUTH 2000.
These Eucharistic retreats are conducted throughout the United States and
many foreign lands. It is a worldwide movement to make the youth more responsive
and accepting of the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
He is present, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity
in the host consecrated at Mass. Our youth experienced this reality on
the weekend.
Praised be Jesus Christ, now and for ever. Now and
for ever, praised be Jesus Christ.

Next week is our great OKTOBERFEST. I am looking forward
to a fun weekend. There is so much energy and excitement!
I encourage each parishioner to make a special
effort to sell or purchase your OKTOBERFEST tickets. I can't guaranty you
will win, but I absolutely guaranty your chance to win some great prizes.

A few quick quotes:
Miracles do not happen in contradiction with nature,
but in contradiction with what we know about nature. - St. Augustine.
Your talent is God's gift to you. How you use
it, is your gift to God. - Unknown
What the teacher is, is more important than what
he teaches. - Karl Menninger
God never asks about our ability or our inability,
just about our availability. - Unknown.

A little humor to balance.
The late Speaker of the House Sam Rayburn was once
asked how honorable a certain Congressman was. Rayburn stared in astonishment
and answered, "There are no degrees in honorable. You are, or you aren't."
Pope John XXIII was once asked, "How many people
work in the Vatican?" He answered, "About half of them!"
And remember when a break was an opportunity,
not time for coffee?
We are the only creatures on the face of the earth
who laugh. I am convinced that after God made us, He had to instill
a sense of humor. It was either that, or start all over again.
God bless,
