Fr. Bill's Weekly Message for 10/12/97

Dear Parishioners:

So much thanks to so many who made our stewardship programÊa great success. Pat Hanson served our parish with great love as the chair person of the committee. She is a great organizer. So many others helped in many different ways.

You should be hearing from some one very soon. They are following up on your commitment cards turned in over the past week or so. If you have not sent your commitment card yet, please do so as soon as possible. They will help us better serve the people of our parish.
Let us continue to give back to God a generous portion of our time, talent, and thanks

This week we remember the many people who suffer the unjust destruction of their lives through abortion, euthanasia, violence, etc.

It is no surprise to me that our young people are becoming more and more violent. After all, the adult world is destroying thousands of children every day. Why should anyone be caught off guard when they act the same as the adult world. We must remember that the bottom line in the discussion of abortion is the fact that to allow abortion is to allow a mother the power to destroy her own child.

More and more we are heading towards the culture of death our Holy Father often refers to in his teachings. We now have a generation of children who have grown up in a culture which turns a blind eye to the destruction of human beings, young and old. We now see the violence coming home to roost.

Our Gospel is about life, the protection of life, the honoring of life. Let us be people who follow the Gospel of life and do all that we can to protect and enhance life.

Remember that next week is our great OCTOBERFEST. Everyone is invited to come and have a great time with one another. Pray for good weather and lots of sunshine.

If you have not had the opportunity to get your raffle tickets please take some time this week to help your parish. The proceeds from OKTOBERFEST are divided between the Endowment Fund, and educational programs of the parish and school.

There are some great prizes and the food is always great. Last year I gained three pounds that day. But it was worth it.

*************************

This is the story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done, and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about this because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody couldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

God bless,

Fr. Bill
