Brother Knights,

There will be a council meeting TONIGHT , July 25, 2007. The meeting begins promptly at 8:00 pm (or 20 hundred for Irvin). There will be a light meal and fellowship after the meeting. There will be several upcoming functions discussed. Please make arrangements to attend and bring a brother knight.

On Thursday, July 19, 2007, our council welcomed two new knights into our brotherhood. They are Rick Womack and Rafael Chapa. Please make them and all of our new knights feel welcome.

Thank you for working and selling raffle tickets for the Astros suite at Catholic Family Day after the Sunday Masses,( which includes the Vigil Mass on Saturday). Tickets sells are progressing fantastically. Buy your tickets at the next meeting. Don't miss out. There are a limited number of tickets being sold and there are not too many tickets remaining. If you have checked out tickets, PLEASE return money
and sold tickets to Chris Moras at the meeting this Wednesday. The drawing is August 14 at the Diocesan Chapter Meeting. I would also like to thank the Astros organization and our brother knight Brent Broussard for their assistance and generosity in this raffle.

It is not too early to order tickets for this year's Catholic Family Day at the Astros. Council 3910 has blocked 62 seats (mezzanine --$11). I hope to see you at the game. If you have any questions, please contact me either by email: jackfergusonjr@hotmail.com or at (713) 249-0301.

Brisket Sales for the Ben Cramer Family will kick off soon. The council has elected to sell delicious smoked briskets for Labor Day to help the family of our deceased brother. We will start pre-sale of the briskets after Masses for the August 11-12 weekend.

August 5 is Doughnut Sunday and Blood Drive Sunday. Eat a lot of sugar and give a lot of blood. Our council is Pro-Life. Giving blood is one of our Pro-Life functions. (Eating doughnuts is not Pro-Life but does qualify as Quality of Life.) Help serve coffee, juice and doughnuts after the Sunday Masses.

There is Financial Secretary Training session on Saturday July 28, at Council 3077. The session begins at 8:30 am (Irvin will be out of town, therefore I don't need to use military time)

Irvin Schueler will be on vacation, again. He has a few projects that he needs assistance with in his absence. Irvin Schueler will depart Houston on Friday, July 27 and will return Saturday, August 25. Here is a list of activities which need to be covered during his absence:

St. Catherine Convent (SCC) Assistance

Two or three brothers should commit to working a schedule to cover this activity. Virgil de Leon is the most knowledgeable in the activity at SCC and possesses all requisite skills for maintenance, repair, gardening, and engineering problems that arise. He, however, cannot commit to a fixed schedule of availability, but he should be the man in charge. He has the answers. This is one the most important ministries ever devised by the Knights of Columbus.

Each 4th Wednesday of the month 10 or 12 Wal-Mart employees from several stores come to SCC to work for 2-3 hours. They are under the supervision of 3910's coordinator. They pick up all trash in the ditch on Gasmer Drive (South boundary) and along the perimeter on Ricecrest Street (West boundary), and mow the ditch and trim along the fencing and curb.. Wednesday 22 August 2007 is a date which must be supervised.

Perpetual Adoration
Each Friday morning from 2 to 3 a.m.

Irvin Schueler is available day and night at (713) 666 - 1311 or at
schueler@bigplanet.com If you will cover any of these functions, let him knowbefore he leaves town. (Margaret, Irvin's wife, does sleep most nights. Don't call after a reasonable hour.) Ed Ramirez can be reached at (713) 721-6513 (h) or erpogi@earthlink.net

The council is also looking for a brother knight to relieve Past Grand Knight Dan Tolopka with "Meeting Supplies." Dan has been handling these supplies for many years and is needed on other pressing projects. The job involves procuring 30 containers of refreshment (regular or lite), a 12-pack of regular coke and 2 12-packs of Diet coke. It also involves taking a cooler to McDonalds for free ice.
If you have any questions please contact Dan or me.

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting. I love my new position and appreciate all of the phone calls with all of the constructive criticism I received after the last meeting.

Yours in Christ,
Jack Ferguson
